Eastern Partnership meeting in Brussels
Meeting takes place at the invitation of European Council President, Donald Tusk.

President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is in Brussels on Monday, to attend a meeting with representatives of the Eastern Partnership states. Meeting takes place at the invitation of European Council President, Donald Tusk, and marks the 10th anniversary since launch of this initiative, which is to create a common area of democracy, prosperity, stability and close cooperation between EU Member States and partner countries.
Radio Romania Correspondent in Brussels, Amalia Bojescu: "The 28 EU Member States and the six Eastern partners - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - will mark the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership, which proved to be mutually beneficial and provided concrete results to the citizens of the eastern neighborhood, EU Executive says. Throughout this period, the European Union and its Eastern partners have strengthened their political association and deepened their economic integration. EU has supported a wide range of reforms in partner countries, covering economic development, governance, connectivity and interpersonal relations. Romania will be represented by President Klaus Iohannis, who will announce decision to continue EU's commitment to the Eastern Partnership. Head of State will mention that the EU expects a continued political commitment of the partner countries, to respect their obligations assumed in relation to Brussels".
Also today, Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Melescanu, will be in Brussels to attend a series of events on the subject, on the occasion of his participation in the Foreign Affairs Council.
In Bucharest, Romania’s EU Council Presidency will mark, on Tuesday, 10 years of Eastern Partnership, with a conference organized by the Foreign Ministry.
