Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said he was outraged by the fact that Romanian treasures were stolen from a museum in the Netherlands and harshly criticized the security conditions of the Drents Museum in Assen.
The chief executive claimed that the Dutch state bears full responsibility for the situation.
In addition, the Prime Minister asked the Romanian Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, to analyze the contract with the Dutch museum with the best experts, so that Romania can claim unprecedented damages.
The Prime Minister also said that, depending on the cooperation with the Dutch authorities, he does not rule out the possibility of calling in international firms specialized in recovering stolen art objects, nor of announcing a reward commensurate with the huge value that the stolen Dacian objects have for the Romanian people and their national identity.
