The draft emergency ordinance on the establishment of the National Agency for Drug Policy and Coordination, as well as Mental Health Centers is on the agenda of Wednesday's government meeting.
The new structure will ensure a unified approach to drug trafficking and drug use among young people.
Drug trafficking and drug use is a truly worrying phenomenon, and the draft emergency ordinance that will be submitted to the members of the Executive intends to provide an adequate response from a perspective that goes beyond criminal law enforcement and places greater emphasis on prevention, but also on integrated assistance for victims of drug use and especially for underage drug users.
In practice, following consultations with non-governmental organizations and experts in the field, the initiators of the project consider it necessary to reform the current institutional architecture in the field, by reorganizing the National Anti-Drug Agency, so that the component of integrated assistance to consumers to enter the structure of public health units, and the other component of coordination of anti-drug policies to pass under the direct subordination of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Mental health and addiction prevention centers would also be set up.
It is believed that the new institutional structure will allow a unified approach to drug trafficking and drug use and will put the emphasis on prevention among children and young people and offer specialized medical assistance to all those who need to get rid of this addiction.
