Dozens of Romanian firefighters, stationed in Greece, will participate in extinguishing the strong fires in the island of Rhodes, the Department for Emergency Situations announced.

30.000 locals and tourists from this island were evacuated to safer places, 3.000 of them by water. The office of the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaks of the largest evacuation operation in the country's history.

The German group TUI, the largest tourism operator in the world, and the low cost carrier easyJet announced that they are suspending all passenger flights to the island.
