Family doctors are unhappy that the vaccination of schoolchildren and adolescents must be made at their offices and not in schools.
The President of the National Society of Family Medicine, Rodica Tănăsescu, indicated that such a measure should have a binding, otherwise many students will remain unvaccinated.
"We are not bothered to vaccinate these children. The real problem is that school children were more easily caught up and we doubt that will come to vaccination, especially older children.
If there is a compelling way-and for the time being lawfully obligation there isn’t -if we try to convince young ladies that must vaccinate anti-rubella( measles), I fear that they will not come to vaccinate and that may mean that over ten years, when they are pregnant, some of them to infect with rubella( measles) and make babies with major malformations, "said Rodica Tănăsescu.
The Ministry of Health claims, however, that the solution of vaccination by family doctors is effective.
The Minister Counselor Paul, Şerban stated that, according to official data, in the school context, the immunization was carried out only at the rate of 70 per cent.
"In recent months there also have been a few outbreaks of measles and it was found that it might be better that immunization is made by family doctors.
There is a possibility that on the day when at school children should be immunized they might skip classes or parents refuse immunization; probably nobody discussed with them about the dangers if they do not immunize and then it took this decision, "explained Minister Counselor , Paul Șerban.
National immunization program provides three vaccinations for students at the seven, nine and fourteen years.
