"Ditrau": racism against foreign workers in Romania

Hundreds of villagers of Ditrau, Harghita County, Romania, staged protests last week because a bread factory in the village had hired two employees from Sri Lanka. Locals said they fear ‘a wave of refugees might come in their village, which would jeopardize their safety.
Villagers have asked local authorities to organize a referendum for stopping what they call the “immigrant inflow”, according to Digi24.ro.
Owners of the bread factory say they had to bring foreign workers because they can’t find employees locally.
