Director Tudor Mărăscu passed away
Theatre and television director Tudor Mărăscu died on Sunday at the age of 71, after being ill for a long period of time. Tudor Mărăscu directed over 60 theatre plays and movies.

Theatre and television director Tudor Mărăscu died on Sunday at the age of 71, according to TVR channel.
Throughout his artistic activity, Tudor Mărăscu Tudor directed over 60 theater and movies, working more in television.
Tudor Mărăscu was born on 10 November, 1940 and graduated from the I.L. Caragiale Institute of Drama and Cinema (currently: National University of Drama and Film) in 1970. He was a great theatre and film personality.
He was interested in putting on large-scale productions on major theatre stages, whether it was comedy or tragedy, strongly believing that theatres are meant to have as many spectators as possible, according to a release of TVR channel.
He directed dozens of plays at the Odeon Theatre, Bulandra Theatre, Comedy Theatre, National Theatre of Bucharest and other theaters throughout the country.
Among the plays directed by him are Doamnele domnului Caragiale, a one-woman show with Rodica Mandache, Şi totuşi Eminescu by I. Nicolescu, Aşteptăm pe altcineva by Paul Joachim, Hotel Zodia gemenilor by Valentin Munteanu, Il servitore di due padroni by Carlo Goldoni, and Sweet bird of youth by Tennessee Williams.
Tudor Mărăscu also directed many television shows and movies such as În vântul de martie, Adio Europa (serial), Conu Leonida faţă cu reacţiunea.
Besides his stage work, Tudor Mărăscu was a top television director, therefore, achieving success not only with theatre productions but also with television films.
His artistic biography also highlighted his virtues of screenwriter and film director in movies like Bună seara, Irina (1980), Învingătorul (1981), Singur de cart (1983) – co-writer, along with Laurențiu Fulga, Încrederea (1984) – co-writer, along with Vladimir Alexe Miracolul (1987) – co-writer, along with Ion Băieşu, Conu Leonida în faţă cu reacţiunea (2001) –TV movie.
