Diplomacy and international relations for 8th graders

Hundreds of eighth graders, high school and college students spent two days learning about diplomacy and international relations. The "2DAY Ambassador" event gave young people the chance to ask questions to ambassadors and diplomats, take part in debates and even a mock trial of Adolf Eichmann, one of the main perpetrators of the deportation of Jews to extermination camps.
The real trial, held in 1961, was considered a turning point in recognizing individual responsibility for crimes against humanity.
Today, to mark the end of the event, a conference dedicated to sports diplomacy took place and students had the opportunity to interact directly with Romanian sports legends.
"Each one of us great sportsmen and sportswomen are aware that when we participate in a major competition, we are ambassadors. I never wrote my name 'Andreea Raducan' on the back of my suit or tracksuit, but always Romania, an edition of the Olympic Games. I gather all the heads of state in one place. Sport has this role of uniting, of bringing peace, of transmitting values such as respect, fair play and solidarity.
