A big surprise came from SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, winner of Romania’s Women’s Handball Supercup in the match against national champion and Cup holder CSM București (33-31). This is the first trophy won by the team from Râmnicu Vâlcea, successor of Oltchim.
Cristina Florica, Left Wing,SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea: “It was a crazy match from all points of view, a very difficult match and we are glad we won. I'm proud of my team. It's a new team, and we want to be as strong as Oltchim”.
Petre Berbecaru, Technical Advisor, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea:”We want to bring Handball in Râmnicu Vâlcea at the same level it used to be. It is very important that we have financial support of local authorities and that there are already many sponsors who wish to join. Sensational part is that Sports Hall in Râmnicu Vâlcea is top-full again”.
Jelena Grubisic, Goalkeeper, CSM Bucuresti: “I don’t know what happened ... I think we played wrong both in defense and in attack. As for myself, I cannot say I gave my best, I should have played better to help the team. Vâlcea deserves the victory and I congratulate the girls. However, we are at the beginning of the season, and as I recall, we had a wrong start before, like the season we won the Champions League, we started with a defeat in the Supercup. I have this deja-vu and I hope this season will look exactly the same”.
Handball player who scored the most at the Romania's Women Handball Supercup on 25 August 2018 was CSM leader Cristina Neagu, Left-Back, (12 goals). Irina Glibko, Left Wing, (SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea) placed second with 11 goals.
