The government has set up the Department for Streamlining Government Activity, which will reduce state spending next year by one percent of gross domestic product, or about 19 billion lei.
The new structure will be made up of specialists from government areas who will work pro bono and will be headed by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Senate President Ilie Bolojan.
Tanczos Barna: Certainly in January, the department will start its work, will take the first agencies. Some agencies are already in various stages of merger. The department and the two responsible persons, the party presidents, the Prime Minister, the President of the Senate, if they have taken on this coordinating role and will demand maximum efficiency, I am convinced that the first concrete examples and results will appear in a few months.
We recall that today the Government has also adopted the so-called "Little Train" Ordinance, which aims at a series of measures to reduce expenditure. The document will form the basis for next year's state budget.
