A manifesto campaign, which aims to celebrate unity in diversity and present the ethnic Roma community from the perspective of the professional achievements of some of its members, was launched these days by the institutions that represent the interests of the Roma and nine organizations of the Roma civil society and pro-roma.
In the preamble to the International Roma Day, celebrated today, a manifesto debate was organized in the Romanian Academy Hall, the message of which was that many success stories are born in the midst of this community.
Roma week is held under the aegis of "Roma for Romania". On the 8th, in George Enescu Square, an important concert was organized, with the Mahala Rai Band who sang in the Romani language, and Connect-R, the most assumed and important artist of the Roma.
April 8 is the date on which, in 1971, the first international Roma Congress took place in London, where the term to designate the members of the ethnic group was also officially accredited.
