The Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, met, in Focsani, with soldiers from two important brigades that ensure NATO's eastern flank, amid concerns about the evolution of the war in Ukraine.

The 8th Tactical Operational Missile Brigade is the only unit equipped with the HIMARS system, the most powerful capability of its kind in the Alliance, while the 282nd Armored Brigade has high firepower and a high reaction speed to any type of external threat.

As for the number of professional soldiers in the army, Minister Angel Tilvar says it is increasing:

The number of exits from the system has decreased, while the number of entries into the system has increased, and I am happy about that. This means that the measures we have taken at the level of the Ministry of National Defense, also supported by my colleagues in the government, are having an effect. There was a period when the number of departures was causing us some concern.

There were all kinds of actions that we took, we issued orders that allowed the passage from one category to another, the fact that we increased the number of places in military education, the fact that there were communication actions in the communities where the Romanian Army was present among the citizens and generated a desire on the part of young people to join this elite corps of Romanian society.
