Defense Minister met US Ambassador

The Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, together with the Ambassador of the United States, Kathleen Kavalec, visited the 57th Air Base in Mihail Kogalniceanu. Mr. Tilvar met with Romanian, Spanish, American and French military personnel who work at the base, as well as with some of the military attaches of NATO countries accredited in Bucharest.
He was also briefed on the state of infrastructure works taking place as part of a 20-year, 2.5 billion euro project.
"I came to one of the most important military bases on the eastern flank, one of the most important military bases on the Black Sea and, knowing that this is the base located in the easternmost region of the European Union and Romania, I saw how the works are progressing and I think that everything is on schedule. They are of the quality we expect, at least that is what I have been told, and I have seen feverish activity, which leads me to believe that we will be able to expand this base within the parameters and timeframes we have set ourselves", said Defense Minister Angel Tilvar.
