The decision on Romania and Bulgaria's entry into Schengen with land borders could be formalized at the Justice and Home Affairs Council in December, with application from March next year, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said.
During a discussion with his cabinet ministers, the head of the executive claimed that Romanians will be able to travel without checks at the European Union's land borders during the Easter holidays.
The Prime Minister also said he has information that Romania will be included in the Visa Waiver Program before Donald Trump takes power in the United States in January 2025.
Recently, Romania ran the "Qualify Romania" campaign to reduce the visa refusal rate and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of this program.
