The Constitutional Court set September 15 as the deadline for discussing President Klaus Iohannis' complaint regarding the unconstitutionality of the amendment to the Criminal Code, according to which incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination against a person on the grounds that he belongs to a certain category is punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years or with a fine.
The president appealed the law to the Constitutional Court on the motive that the normative act lacks the criteria as a result of which such a crime will be incriminated.
The law by which the Penal Code was amended transposes into national legislation the European provisions regarding the fight against certain forms and expressions of racism and xenophobia through criminal law, informs RADIO ROMANIA NEWS.
