The deadline for tabling amendments to the draft budget proposed by the Government has expired in Parliament.
The legislative process is under urgent procedure, so the report is expected to be drafted in the budget and finance committees by midday on Wednesday, followed by the final vote in plenary.
It was the first day of the parliamentary session and the parties have set and announced their priorities.
For PSD - the party with the largest number of MPs and senators - administrative reform and legislation for Romania's accession to the OECD are priorities for the current legislature.
The leader of the Social Democrat senators, Daniel Zamfir, also lists new regulations for the financial-banking activity among the objectives.
Daniel Zamfir: Two legislative proposals on the consolidation of the national currency, i.e. we want the payment of utility bills to be made in lei and also a law on the regulation of pawnshops. We will be working to draft legislation on the implementation of the NRRP milestones, which is a priority for us.
