The president of the Save Romania Union (USR), Dacian Ciolos, responded to the open letter addressed by the appointed prime minister Nicolae Ciuca, that Romania needs a majority, not an armistice, writes Agerpres.
He mentioned that it is possible for USR to be part of a coalition government led by Nicolae Ciuca.
"From our point of view, of USR, Romania needs a majority that allows the government of Romania, and not an armistice. From our point of view, such a majority is possible this time. In addition, for USR, the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) are not opponents, so there is no need to talk about an armistice. So, this is possible, it is possible for USR to be part of a coalition government led by Prime Minister Ciuca, but for that to happen it is important to give up the delays that, here, prolong these discussions unnecessarily and sit down at the table in order to find solutions together. This is the appeal that I also make to my colleagues from PNL and to the appointed prime minister Ciucă", Ciolos stated in a press conference.
He said the USR does not support a minority government because it has a high degree of instability.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister-designate Nicolae Ciuca sent an open letter asking parliamentary parties to give them the chance to implement "a program to overcome the critical period in which the country is", proposing a "political truce" in this sense.
