The members of the Culture Committee of the Chamber of Deputies have asked for further clarifications from the Ministry of Culture on the theft of Dacian treasures from the Drents Museum in the Netherlands.

They also called for further measures to protect the country's cultural assets. Iulia Gherman followed the discussions and reports:

Committee chairman George Mihail Neamtu called for more accountability from the relevant institutions.

In addition, the AUR MEP proposed that these objects should not be alienated for a period of time.

George Mihail Neamtu: Especially the Dacian bracelets. And we also ask that this Hen with Golden Chickens should no longer be taken around Europe. If anyone wants to see it, let them come here because Romania is also a European country, we can also do cultural tourism.

Secretary of State Diana Baciuna said that the Ministry of Culture is concerned about strengthening security measures.

State Secretary Diana Baciuna: The Ministry of Culture has already launched a special procedure for the inventory of the national movable cultural heritage in the museums under the Ministry of Culture. A commission has been set up at ministry level. It will start tomorrow at the National Museum of Romanian History, the National Art Museum of Romania and the National Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Ministry of Culture has also launched for public debate a draft decision on the temporary export of cultural goods, which provides, among other things, for human guarding during transportation, storage and display of these goods and restricting the duration of temporary export to a maximum of six months, with the possibility of extension once.
