Military aircraft IAR 99 Şoim (Hawk) crashed on Monday, 16 July, at noon, near the Air Base in Bacău County (northeastern Romania), with the two pilots having ejected and landed safely.
Aircraft fell into a lake, according to RRA correspondent Gabriel Pop.
This is the second air tragedy, in less than 10 days, involving a Romanian Army aircraft. On July 8, a MIG 21 Lancer fighter collapsed during an aviation rally organized at the Borcea Air Base in Ialomiţa County. MIG pilot died, and military prosecutors are now investigating the case.
