Almost 2.600 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today, and at national level, the incidence of infections, accumulated in the last 14 days, is just over 3 cases per thousand inhabitants.
The number of hospitalized people with coronavirus has increased.
There are over 3.800 patients in hospitals, more than yesterday, but still at a fairly low level of occupancy.
In addition, the authorities requested the managers of health units to adapt the allocation of the number of beds for patients with COVID-19, so that access to services can be improved for those with other ailments.
In the last 24 hours, there were also 10 deaths associated with SARS-CoV-2, one of which was in the 10-19 age group.
Although today's balance of new diagnoses is higher than last Monday's, the figures from the last seven days indicate that the evolution of the pandemic wave is still positive, stated the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health, Adriana Pistol.
Adriana Pistol: The same downward trend in the number of cases compared to the previous week is observed. In the last week, August 15-21, the total number of cases was around 30.000, lower than the previous week, so we can see this downward trend. It is the same with regard to the number of deaths from the previous week, 143 compared to 164. Of course, as we are already used to, the decrease in the number of deaths is somewhat slower than the decrease in the number of cases.
