Romanian High Court of Cassation and Justice has postponed for one week (until January 21), decision regarding request of former PSD leader Liviu Dragnea to cancel the sentence against him, of three years and six months in prison.
In front of the judges, Dragnea maintained he was innocent, which, he said, was also the reason why he did not pay the damage established by the court for a deed he did not commit.
Both he and his lawyer request acquittal.
On May 2019, High Court of Cassation and Justice sentenced Liviu Dragnea to three years and six months in prison for instigating to abuse of office in a case of fictitious hiring at the Teleorman Social Assistance and Child Protection Directorate General (DGASPC).
