Correctly informing citizens is essential in preventing and combating crises, says the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat. He participated, at the Parliament Palace, in a conference dedicated to the management of risk situations, together with officials and experts from 34 countries. Raed Arafat also spoke about the importance of periodic analysis of the situation of buildings with seismic risk.

Raed Arafat: It is very important to update and it is very important to understand what situation we are in. You have seen that in the last meetings and discussions at the Government, the mechanisms for further evaluation and consolidation of the buildings have already been discussed.

According to a report on last year by the Court of Accounts, approximately 15% of the number of buildings in which there are sanitary units subordinated to the Ministry of Health are classified in one of the four classes of seismic risk.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Education announced that it will present weekly on its website the situation of educational institutions' buildings from the point of view of seismic risk.
