Only nine of the nearly 300 cruise ships that were scheduled for the beginning of the year have reached the Delta so far.
The pandemic reduced the number of foreign tourists to only two percent compared to last year, according to the calculations of the director Vasile Radu, and, implicitly, drastically decreased the revenues of companies that offered services for cruise ships.
One of the three economic agents from Tulcea that offers services to river cruise ships announced at the beginning of the year that they are waiting for about 280 vessels in ports.
Over 500 groups of tourists from Western Europe were going to visit the Delta.
However, the pandemic with the new coronavirus postponed the opening of the cruise ship season, so this year only nine ships docked in July and August in the ports of the county, and another four are expected this month.
Vasile Radu: So far, no outbreak of COVID-19 has been reported on any of the ships crossing the river from Germany to the Delta.
