Reducing bureaucracy is a top priority, European Commissioner for Regional Development, Corina Creţu, said on Monday at the Victoria Palace in Bucharest, at the signing ceremony of the funding agreements submitted on two priority axes, under the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020 and the Large Infrastructure Operational Program.
Romania is on the right track, and the contracts signed today mean investments worth over 280 million euros, European Commissioner said.
It is important that Romania maintains the pace of its economic growth, benefits from more political stability but it is also important that Romania no longer complicates itself with the procedures related to European projects, Corina Creţu added.
"What I saw in Romania many times, in terms of bureaucracy, horrified me, because these are not requirements of the European Union. We already receive online applications from most of the EU Member States, not applications with tens of thousands of signed and stamped pages, and Romania needs to get there too. Therefore, in our opinion, reducing bureaucracy is a top priority," stated Corina Creţu.
Next year, Romanian authorities intend to attract at least 6.3 billion euros, Prime Minister Mihai Tudose declared today, adding that these funds will be directed mainly towards Education, Health, Infrastructure and Agriculture.
