European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Crețu, encourages the Romanian authorities to invest in tourism, especially in the less developed regions.
The European Commissioner met yesterday with Romanian Tourism Minister Mircea Dobre, and said that such investments with European funds could make a significant contribution to the country's economic growth and, in particular, to the development of certain regions and the employment rate.
The European Commissioner recalled that tourism has 100 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund, out of which the Romanian authorities have so far attracted only a quarter, according to a press release from the European Commission's Representation in Bucharest.
