Romania celebrates, each year on 19 February, the birth of Constantin Brâncuşi, world-famous sculptor of Romanian origin. This year is the 144th anniversary, and the event is also celebrated in different capitals of the world.
Special events took place in Bucharest and Târgu Jiu, where the “Constantin Brâncuşi National Museum” will be opened, at the Barbu Gănescu house, where the great sculptor lived while working at his Sculptural Ensemble "Heroes Way" - The Table of Silence, The Gate of the Kiss and the Endless Column.
Inaugural event included an exhibition of 10 pictures donated by the Pompidou Centre in Paris and 33 document pictures taken when the Endless Column was lifted.
RRA Correspondent Răzvan Stoichiţoiu: "Constantin Brâncuşi National Day has been celebrated in Gorj through various cultural and artistic events at Gorj County Museum, Art Museum in Târgu Jiu, Constantin Brâncuşi University and People's School of Art. On Wednesday, the National Museum of Art in Bucharest can be visited free of charge. On Wednesday evening, in the courtyard of the Royal Palace there will be a show of projections portraying the sculptor's hologram and his famous works.
