Romania's connection to the European transport network must be a priority in preparing for its Presidency of the EU Council in the first semester of 2019 - said Lucian Bode, Chairman of the Transport Committee in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies.
There is a need for well-drafted projects that will not be blocked right from the launch of the auctions, Lucian Bode explained.
Official data from the Romanian National Agency for Public Procurement (ANAP) shows that out of 1,000 submitted projects, 997 are rejected in the first phase. The situation is also encountered in the case of motorways and national roads, Lucian Bode mentioned.
Lucian Bode: Those from the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) say ANAP rejects their documentation. ANAP says: “You are not doing them right”, and states ANAP does not have enough specialized staff.
Last month at the budget rectification, the Romanian Ministry of Transport lost over six billion lei, initially allocated for co-financing projects with European funds.
