President Traian Bǎsescu announced that on Sunday it had begun consultations for a new government formula that would revive the economy.
After a meeting with the Liberal Democratic Party (PDL) members of Parliament, President Traian Bǎsescu declared that the government must find a new style of governance that "does not aim at passing through the crisis, but at economic recovery".
"Government should find a new style of management, not a management that would not cover the passage of the crisis, but a management that relate to economic recovery", Traian Bǎsescu declared.
The president also said the current government has successfully concluded the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) because of its activity and that the last quarter of 2010 recorded economic growth.
Bǎsescu said that the media speculation about the Prime Minister’s name and the future government form are "out of reality".
Asked about the possibility of designating an independent premier, the President declared that "I think it may be a solution, but I refuse to think the coalition will support this idea".
The Romanian President said, after a meeting with elected PDL, he will consult with all parties in the coalition, but a final decision will be taken only after the elections will be held.
Elections for leadership positions in DAHR will take place on 26 and 27 February.
