Compensation for airline customers

Producer: The European Consumer Center from Romania has developed a tool through which airline customers can find out if they are entitled to compensation and in what form it is granted, in the event that their flights have been cancelled.
Reporter: The rules regarding the rights of passengers in air transport apply only to flights that take place on the territory of the Community space and that are operated by companies registered in the European Union. The compensation calculator helps us find out if and what compensation we can get in certain situations.
Irina Chiritoiu, director of the European Consumer Center in Romania: If we discuss, for example, the canceled flights, the compensation varies between 250 and 600 euros, depending on the distance we were going to travel. If we discuss a flight cancellation, in addition to the compensation part, we also have the right to receive assistance at the airport and accommodation in case the delay is much longer and we have to spend a night.
Reporter: At the same time, we have the right to refund the price of the plane ticket within seven days. But Irina Chiritoiu also says that this does not happen. You can find the compensation calculator on the website of the European Consumer Center in Romania.
