There is, naturally, a huge public expectation related to the setting of dates for the presidential elections, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said at the opening of Friday's government meeting. It is also one of the executive's priorities in the immediate future, he said. Petruta Obrejan reports.
Reporter: After the coalition partners agreed on the dates for the presidential election polls, May 4 for the first round and May 18 for the second round, the government will adopt next week, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said, the necessary acts to get the process on the right track.
Another priority of the current cabinet is the draft budget for this year, which the prime minister said must be approved by the executive by January 27 at the latest and thus enter as soon as possible the debate in parliament.
In fact, early next week, coalition leaders, deputy prime ministers and other cabinet members will meet at the Victoria Palace to discuss a first draft of the budget. On the other hand, the head of the executive believes that after April 1, support for the population should continue to be provided through energy and gas price caps.
