Cioran’s manuscripts will be donated to the Romanian state
Businessman George Brăiloiu declared for România Actualităţi that he would donate to the Romanian state the documents of Emil Cioran purchased at a bid organized in Paris

Businessman George Brăiloiu, the man who bought all scripts and objects that belonged to philosopher Emil Cioran in a bid organized in Paris, declared for Radio România Actualităţi that e would donate the manuscripts ‘to an institution in Romania’.
George Brăiloiu also added that he decided to participate in the bid a day before it was organized, when he found out from the radio that the Romanian state will not participate.
Mister Brăiloiu also said that he did not decide to which institution he would give the documents, but that he has contacted representatives of the Central University Library ‘to discuss transportation and storage of the manuscripts’.
‘I am not an expert in storaging such documents;, the businessman also declared.
Emil Cioran’s writings and goods, among which a student’s card, a passport or study siplomas, have been bought with 406 thousand euros.

Experts stated after the bid that the tendering amount exceeded their initial expectations.
At the bid in Paris also participated the Romanian public TV station and the Central University Library in Bucharest.
Friday is the 100th anniversary of Emil Cioran’s birthday.
Emil Cioran was a renowned writer and philosopher that moved to France after Romania started to be governed by the communist party. He was born in Răşinari, Sibiu, on 8 April 1911 and this year we commemorate 100 years since his death.
Along Mircea Eliade and Eugen Ionescu, Emil Cioran is one of the most famous twenty first century Romanian writers, whose debut took place in the interwar period.
Emil Cioran published several works in Bucharest, including On the Heights of Despair, The Book of Delusions, The Transfiguration of Romania, Tears and Saints, The Passionate Handbook.
Other works of his were published in Paris, among them A Short History of Decay, All Gall Is Divided, The Temptation to Exist, History and Utopia, The Fall into Time, The New Gods, The Trouble With Being Born, Drawn and Quartered, Notebooks.
