National Statistical Institute presents on Thursday the first results definitive of the Population and Housing Census 2011.
INS President, Tudorel Andrei, recently said that final data do not differ dramatically compared to the initial estimates, according to Agerpres.
NIS announced in 2012, provisional data of Census 2011, in February 2012, being communicated a stable population of 19,042,936 people of Romania and in August 2012 the updated data showing a stable population of 19,043,767 people, the differences between the two datasets being insignificant.
Also, the INS estimated that nearly a million people were not enumerated.
The population of Romania includes also foreign citizens on the territory of Romania for a period of over 12 months.
At the resident population is added over 1.211 million people - people who left the country for a long term and temporary bystanders in Romania, resulting thus a population of over 20,250,000 people registered.
RPL 2011 cost 40 million euros, being processed 38 million forms with data collected in the field.
PCR was conducted in 2011, and the preliminary results showed a significant decrease of the Romanian population to 19 million.
The preliminary results of RPL have been a point of contention in the political field, in the election and referendum context on the impeachment of President, invoking the fact that the old electoral rolls on the basis of a larger population are not true.
