Calin Georgescu is the winner of the first round of the presidential elections.
After counting 99.99% of the votes, he would enter the decisive round with Elena Lasconi.
According to official data published by the Central Electoral Authority, independent candidate Calin Georgescu received 22.95% of the Romanian vote.
In second place were USR candidate Elena Lasconi with 19.18% and Marcel Ciolacu, PSD, with 19.15%.
Lasconi and Ciolacu are separated by more than 2.500 votes.
They are followed by AUR candidate George Simion, with 13.86%, Nicoale Ciuca, PNL, with 8.79%, and independent Mircea Geoana, with 6.32%.
In the diaspora as well, Calin Georgescu won with a final result of 43.35%.
He is followed by Elena Lasconi with 26.82% and George Simion with 12.07%. Mircea Geoana and Nicolae Ciuca both got less than 5%. Marcel Ciolacu received less than 3% of the votes cast by Romanian citizens abroad.
