Calea Victoriei in Bucharest will become a pedestrian area this weekend, with the resumption of the "Open Streets" programme, announced the Mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan.
On Saturday and Sunday, 6 and 7 April, between 10am and 10pm, the road will be closed to traffic from Piata Victoriei to the intersection with Splaiul Independentei, without affecting intersections with other streets.
The event will include theatre performances, street concerts, exhibitions, children's workshops and sports activities.
According to the capital's mayor, more than one million people took part in the urban promenade event last year.
