The ad-interim charge d'affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was urgently summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to convey to him the protest against the violation of Romania's airspace. The convocation takes place after the discovery on the territory of Romania, near the border with Ukraine, of new drone fragments, similar to those used by the Russian army.
Secretary of State Iulian Fota firmly requested the Russian side to cease actions against Ukrainian infrastructure, including those that would threaten the security of Romanian citizens in the region. The Ministry of National Defense announced that the elements found will be technically expertized.
Brigadier General, Constantin Spinu: The exact elements, we hope, regarding the provenance of these fragments, will be available after the technical analysis and expertise. We are still on the alert and I would like to call them by name these attacks that the Russian Federation has been doing for, well, almost a month and a half. They are war crimes. The Ministry of National Defense remains in permanent contact with allied structures that are informed in real time about these situations.
The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, expressed his solidarity with Romania, after the telephone conversation he had with President Klaus Iohannis about the created situation. The official also specified that there are no indications that there were intentions to attack NATO, but the attacks are destabilizing.
