From 26 April, payment for public transport can be made by SMS.
"We would like to support our travellers by providing them this new payment instrument, affordable, fast and comfortable. This is another step that RATB accomplishes in a larger program, to optimize the transport offer and increase the quality of services provided to travelling public", said Viorel Popescu, Bucharest Public Transport Authority(RATB) representative.
The new method introduced by Bucharest Public Transport Authority (RATB) will however, be valid only for one day subscription.
According to a press release, through a message to the number 7456, available in mobile phone networks Orange and Vodafone, travellers can pay the subscription for one day, available on all-lines urban transport.
After sending the SMS, travellers will receive a code confirming the transaction.
Those who resorted to this method of payment are obliged to keep the code throughout the day.
According to the Bucharest Public Transport Authority (RATB) the payment transaction by SMS does not assume a risk, as the operating platform is provided with an anti-fraud mechanism.
