Princess Stephanie of Monaco has unveiled, today in Bucharest, a Monument build in honor of her father, Prince Rainier III of Monaco. The Mayor of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, was present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Monument is located on the front alley in the Park of the Bucharest Circus and is formed of a statue of Prince Rainier and seven bronze figurative elements representing life-size circus acts.
Prince Rainier created the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, an event the Bucharest Globus Circus has attended several times. This Monument, designed by sculptor Ionel Stoicescu, aims to evoke the Prince’s love for the circus.
The Princess of Monaco thanked for the homage to her father and Mayor Gabriela Firea said that regardless of the city's problems in terms of infrastructure or the quality of life of the citizens, one should not forget the moral obligations in the cultural field. No investment is great enough, if we think of the symbol the Prince of Monaco represents, Firea said.
Before the inauguration, there was a small dance and acrobatic show in front of the Circus.
The ceremony was attended by Romanian Culture Minister, Lucian Romaşcanu, Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco in Romania, Robert Fillon, Ambassador of France to Bucharest, Michelle Ramis, and Prince Radu Duda.
