Romanian Border Police has detained 41 foreign citizens who were caught by border guards while trying to illegally cross the Romanian-Hungarian border, on foot.
Trespassers were discovered last night during an action to combat illegal migration on the Nădlac Border Police surveillance area.
According to a press release, 22 people were found on Romanian territory, near the Romanian-Hungarian border protection zone, while trying to enter illegally in Hungary. Following alert of Hungarian border authorities, police officers from Hungary also found 19 people who had entered the Hungarian territory illegally.
Trespassers captured by Romanian Border Police were from Iraq and Afghanistan - 15 adults and seven children, most of them asylum seekers in Romania. They wanted to reach western European states.
