"Black Bats" Air Defense Detachment on mission in Poland return to Romania

Romanian soldiers of the Army Ground Base Air Defense Detachment “Black Bats”, assigned to the Battle Group Poland, return home from mission on Thursday, April 4. Repatriation ceremony will take place in Braşov, at the Headquarters of 228th 'Piatra Craiului' Air Defence Battalion.
The 120 soldiers, equipped with 35mm OERLIKON anti-aircraft guns, were deployed between October 2018 and March 2019 as part of the Polish-led Battlegroup headed by the United States and subordinated to Polish 15th Mechanized Brigade. Detachment had the mission to ensure, in a rotational system, the forward strengthened presence in the northeast of the Alliance and deter all potential aggression in accordance with measures adopted at the Warsaw Summit.
Soldiers handed over their mission to their colleagues from the 205th “General Gheorghe Parvulescu” Battalion of Craiova, who will carry out the same assignment for the next six months.
