Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu (19), of Romanian origin, has won her first Grand Slam title in her career, after defeating legendary American tennis player Serena Williams (6-3, 7-5), on Saturday in New York, in the US Open finals.
Andreescu’s victory in the US Open places her 5th in the WTA ranking of the best women’s tennis players in the world. She will get a USD 3.85 million check.
