Romania will perform tests to detect horse DNA in the food products labeled as beef food products.

Starting March 1st, on request of the European Commission, Romania will perform tests to detect horse DNA in the food products labeled as beef food products.
At the same time, all slaughter houses and warehouses will be subject to tough controls, all over the country.
Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin said he wanted clarifications from Athens, where the Greek authorities claimed to have found horse DNA in a batch of meet imported from Romania and labeled as beef.
