The Ministry of Transport announced the launch of the tender for the first hydrogen trains in Romania. It is about 12 frames, and the project is financed by the NRRP and with money from the state budget.
The cost of the trains amounts to almost 1 billion lei, but with the maintenance services for 30 years and the hydrogen supply facilities, the investment can reach 4 or even 5 billion lei, reported our editor, Alexandru Lancuzov.
The 12 hydrogen trains will run only on non-electrified lines, such as North Railway Station, Otopeni Airport or the routes from Bucharest to Pitesti and Targoviste.
In the middle of the month, a hydrogen train traveled more than 1.000 kilometers in Germany without refueling.
