Around 600 US soldiers from the military ground forces are expected to arrive in Romania, coming from Poland, with tanks, combat vehicles and helicopters, Romanian Defense Ministry announced.
US troops are part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, launched after illegal annexation of Crimean peninsula by Russia, to ensure security of NATO's eastern flank.
They will be stationed at Mihail Kogălniceanu Base in Constanţa County for nine months and will take part in joint exercises with Romanian military troops.
