RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - Approximately 300.000 people from Ukraine entered the European Union in the last year through customs in the town of Isaccea in Tulcea, after Russia started the war, the Coast Guard announced on Friday. This customs differs from the others in that the border is formed by the Danube, and the passage from one country to another is done by ferry. This means of transport has its own timetable and a limited transport capacity. As of February 24, 2022, Isaccea has seen increases of over 150% in passenger and goods traffic, in both directions. The announced figures refer to the number of border crossings, and not to people, according to RRA correspondent Luiza Rosetti. At national level, the Border Police announced that, since the outbreak of the conflict in the neighboring country, around 3.5 million Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania through all customs points. Of these, nearly 750.000 were children.
