Romanian Anticorruption Prosecutors are expressing concern following the decision taken on Wednesday by the Constitutional Court that there is an institutional conflict in the case of President Iohannis’s refusal to dismiss DNA Chief.
Anticorruption Prosecutors says they are worried on what they call "the potential impact on the status of prosecutors' independence, which is an essential prerequisite for the fight against corruption. Without the current legal guarantees, the fight against corruption would not have been possible, and the loss of these guarantees could seriously affect the investigations carried out by the anticorruption prosecutors", a DNA statement says
There is no decision of the Constitutional Court that does not produce legal effects and is not respected, Justice Minister Tudorel Toader said earlier.
For her part, Interior Minister Carmen Dan, PSD deputy chairman, has said today that she expects President Klaus Iohannis to take into account the decision of the Constitutional Court.
