The Senate begins debating the emergency ordinance setting a three-day deadline for toxicology tests to be carried out following roadside tests. If the results of the doping tests, carried out only by forensic medical institutions, are not ready in time, drivers will get their licenses back.
Reporter: - The document, which goes to the Senate committees for report, stipulates that driving licenses withdrawn from people suspected of having consumed drugs or alcohol and who either refused the test or were tested by certified means, will be returned 72 hours after the samples are taken, based on the negative test report from the INML or if the results have not been communicated within this timeframe.
The draft law, in order to reduce waiting times for the results of toxicological tests, sets a maximum of 72 hours for the results of toxicological tests to determine the presence or absence of psychoactive substances in the body or alcohol in the blood and their communication by forensic medical institutions to the Romanian Police.
The draft law on the introduction of the European minimum wage in Romania is also before the Senate. The law establishes a new mechanism whereby the minimum wage will be updated annually so that it is at least half the average wage.
On the other hand, MEPs on the labor committee have on the agenda this week several draft laws on measures for people with disabilities, such as facilitating their access to public transport or polling stations.
