Parliamentary groups of the Social Democratic Party and the National Liberal Party in the Senate have designated on Monday, Andrei Marga to occupy the office of President of the Romanian Cultural Institute.
The post remained vacant after the resignation of Horia-Roman Patapievici.
The proposal of the two parliamentary groups for the office of vice president is Horia-Razvan Gârbea.
According to the vice-president of the Senate, Petru Filip, by amending the law on the functioning of the institute and moving it under the Senate, under the jurisdiction of appointment of 21 members of the Coordinating Council fully passes the Senate.
Petru Filip explained that 7 will be representatives of State institutions and structures, 7, and 8 will be appointed by the Senate. The appointment of the new leadership of the ICR shall be by vote of the plenary of the Senate, after the candidates were heard in specialized commissions.
President Horia Roman Patapievici announced in early August that waives, along with two Vice Presidents, Tania Radu Mircea Mihăieş, in protest against what they called "a blow to the Romanian culture", and "changing the mission of the Institute and of the political subordination to the Senate" .
The Romanian Cultural Institute was placed under the Senate , according to an emergency ordinance of Ponta Government.
Ordinance was published in the Official Gazette on 14 June.
The Constitutional Court decided on July 31 that the government emergency ordinance that passes from the Romanian Cultural Institute under the presidential administration to the Senate "shall comply with the basic law".
