The new head of the Romanian Cultural Institute, Andrei Marga, asks for supplementation of the budget after it has been reduced by a third.
Andrei Marga asked the board of the National Liberal Party to accept his resignation on the basis that his function conflicts with his political activity, but the true challenges as head of ICR are yet to begin.
The fate of the Institute depends on money but also on a modern perspective of working.
As during the previous year the projects developed by the Institute have been applauded by the press worldwide and by the two Nobel laureates, it is now in the power of the new board, starting with Marga, to continue at least at the same level as before.
"We are talking about expanding the area of our activities. The staff also has been supplemented. We have as well started discussing with governmental authorities about increasing the budget. The new generations will have our support for development", said Andrei Marga.
With expansion plans to Latin America, Russia and China, the existing branches emphasize the lack of revenue, which lead to the resignation of the ICR head in New York.
Poet Doina Urcariu was nominated on Wednesday as head of ICR New York, replacing Corina Suteu who resigned last week, after six years in this function.
Andrei Marga sustains that contests will be held for the new vacant jobs abroad, respecting therefore the legislation.
He also stated that new regulations and organizational chart will be implemented.
"The board will decide upon a new organizational chart, new regulations and other measures.
My main priority is that the Romanian Cultural Institute can be described as the place where strong cultural initiatives mix together, in order to prove that here, in the middle of the Carpathian Mountains there are people how have an influence on the world culture" added the head of ICR, Andrei Marga.
