Amending Regulations of the Chamber of Deputies

The Standing Bureau’s decisions can be adopted by the present majority. The opposition members have been boycotting the Standing Bureau’s work for two months.

The Chamber of Deputies’ plenum voted, in the absence of opposition, to validate all Standing Bureau decisions with the vote of the present majority.

The decision was taken with 173 votes in favour, three votes against and two abstentions.

Thus, the regulation of the Chamber of Deputies was amended. In the former regulations it was provided that the Standing Bureau can adopt decisions only with the vote of half plus one of its total members.

The Deputies of the government parties mentioned that renouncing the necessary quorum for the Standing Bureau unlocks the activity of this forum, boycotted by the National Liberal Party and the Social Democrat Party for two months.

The Standing Bureau’s meetings haven’t been held for two months, since there was no quorum, because of the NLP and SDP members’ boycott. They accuse Roberta Anastase, the president of the Chamber, of ‘forging’ the pension law vote and they demand her replacement.

The opposition criticised the amendment to the regulations and did not participate in the final vote, saying that a majority abuse was installed.
