Ambassador Simona Miculescu, elected President of the UNESCO General Conference

Ambassador Simona-Mirela Miculescu was elected, in a special ceremony in Paris, "with acclamation", as President of the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO.

She is the first female ambassador from Romania to head an international body, the third Romanian citizen after Nicolae Titulescu and Corneliu Manescu to represent Romania as president of a world organization.

Simona Mirela Miculescu is the first woman spokeswoman in the history of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first woman in Romania's diplomatic history with the diplomatic rank of Ambassador, the first woman to lead the Permanent Mission of Romania to the United Nations.
